Overview

DevTech Systems Inc. seeks to issue a blanket purchase agreement (BPA) for copy-editing services. We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Copy Editor to who will assist in copy editing a variety of content, including technical reports, editorial articles, newsletters, progress reports. The contractor will work closely with Program Managers and Technical Directors and ensure that final copy is clean, coherent, and user/reader-friendly, while adhering to DevTech and USAID standards and style guide. The contractor will be expected to have an eye for detail, superior grammar skills, and a knack for catching every stray punctuation mark and will ensure that reports are in line with USAID and USG branding and marking requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure USAID and USG branding and marking requirements are incorporated in copy-edited reports for both content and graphics.
  • Ensure that progress reports, articles and technical reports are logically structured
  • Proofread, correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors across a wide variety of technical and progress reports.
  • Crosscheck reports for style, readability, and adherence to USAID and USG branding and marking requirements and DevTech’s editorial policies and other best practices.
  • Provide 508 compliance copy-editing for documents to be ready for uploading into USAID’s Development Experience Clearing (DEC) house.
  • Respond to copy-editing requests in a timely and efficient manner

Price Quotations

Interested parties are requested to provide;

  • Up to date CV of the copyeditor, clearly showing past experience and qualification. The CV should demonstrate the above requirements.
  • Written quotes both in terms of daily/hourly rate in US$ and cost per 1000 words or per page.
  • Sample of the past copy-editing work done on USAID and other USG reports

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience as a copy editor
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and priorities at once
  • Superior grammar and copyediting skills
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written in English
  • Experience in multitasking, handling work pressures, attention to detail, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced environment
  • Experience working on MS Office applications.
  • Prior experience working on USAID-funded projects or copy editing of USAID funded projects’ reports required
  • Full knowledge of USAID Branding and Marking requirements
  • Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style
  • Experience reviewing and ensuring 508 compliance for US Government published documents
