Exciting Opportunity: Join Our Team as a Senior Communications Specialist!

We're seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Communications Specialist to join our USAID Analytics, Data, Visualization, and Information Services 2.0 (ADVISE 2.0) project. What's the Job About?

As a Senior Communications Specialist, you'll be the driving force behind our marketing and communication efforts, spreading the word about ADVISE 2.0’s products and services. You'll create compelling content, oversee social media channels, and lead outreach initiatives that raise awareness and build engagement across USAID and beyond.

 

This position’s place of performance is Washington D.C. with the options for generous U.S. based telework or remote work.

 

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Create Compelling Content: Develop eye-catching marketing materials, including blog posts, presentations, newsletters, and more.
  • Build Our Brand: Ensure consistent branding across all communication platforms, both internal and external.
  • Own Social Media: Manage and maintain our Twitter account and other social media platforms to keep the conversation going.
  • Lead Outreach Efforts: Coordinate with USAID subject-matter experts to promote our products and find opportunities for team members to represent ADVISE 2.0 at conferences, seminars, and other events.
  • Support Change Management: Help USAID communicate organizational changes effectively and positively.
  • Stay on the Cutting Edge: Engage with virtual communities, industry groups, and stakeholders to keep our communications fresh and relevant.

Qualifications

What You Bring:

  • Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, International Relations, or a similar field. A Master's degree is preferred but not required. Plus, 8 years of experience in communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Government Experience: Experience with U.S. Government communications (especially USAID) is a big plus.
  • Strong Communication Skills: You're a pro at both written and verbal communication and can explain complex concepts in simple terms.
  • Multitasking Mastery: You're able to juggle multiple projects without breaking a sweat.
  • Tech-Savvy: You know your way around social media management tools like Hootsuite and Google Analytics.
  • Team Player with Independence: You can work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

The candidate must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for the required U.S. government security clearance for this project. (Dual nationality or additional citizenships will not disqualify applicants.)
